What Does 'Approved for Multiple Use' Mean When Selecting Anchors?

Cable Tray RunContrary to what some may think, it doesn’t mean a single anchor can be reused.

Instead, it refers to installations where multiple fixings are used to evenly distribute the load across several anchor points. This setup ensures that if one anchor fails, the load is safely transferred to the surrounding anchors, preventing a total system collapse. It’s based on the principle of redundancy, whereby no single anchor is critical to the overall performance.

This differs from a single-point fixing whereby the fixture being supported relies entirely on that one anchor. If it fails, the entire fixture will fail. Due to the consequences of failure being so high, the load per fixing in single-point systems is significantly reduced giving it an increased safety factor.

While correct design and installation are essential in any setup, multiple use installations reduce risk and align with industry best practices.

If you need support with your fixings strategy, our technical team is here to assist you. From design through to installation, we can help you stay compliant and minimise risk on site.
