Fixings Strategy

A fixings strategy defines how fixings are selected, specified, and installed across a project. It ensures that each stage, from initial design to final installation, is carried out safely, correctly and in full compliance with BS 8539:2012+A1:2021.

A robust strategy will address critical questions such as:

• Are the fixings designed to support the required load?
• What is the substrate you are fixing into?
• Have the fixings been specified?
• Are the correct specified fixings being re-ordered?
• Are installers trained to install the specific fixing?
• Will installers by supervised by a competent person?
• Do I need a Pull/Proof Test?

A clear strategy is essential when installing safety critical fixings, as any failures have the potential to cause serious damage or injury to end users.

At Kernow, we can help with the key elements of a Fixings Strategy such as fixings advice, pull tests and fixings boards, supporting you to successfully manage compliance and reduce risk on site.
