Supporting The Angel Square Refurbishment Project
Posted on 17-09-2025
Kernow recently supported the contractor responsible for the M&E phase of the prestigious redevelopment of Angel Square.
Located in Islington, the Angel Square project transformed three ageing office blocks into a single, modern 293,000 sq ft building, providing affordable workspace, a public café, and a replacement pub. Most of the original structure was retained, with new floors, roof terraces, and a glass-reinforced concrete façade added.
Sustainability was central to the project, with the fully electric building powered in part by rooftop solar panels and designed to achieve a 'BREEAM Outstanding' rating.
The site was located within a designated ‘red line zone’, and at the junction of two major A roads, meaning all deliveries had to follow very strict procedures. As a result, the contractor required a supplier with the experience and capability of dealing with such tight restrictions.
What Did Kernow Supply?
Kernow supplied a wide range of materials to this project, from general fixings and sundries to KFX Concrete Anchors and a complete channel support system. Due to the large volume of channel required, materials were provided on a call-off basis. This allowed the contractor to receive exactly what was needed, when it was needed, while ensuring the full allocation was reserved and ready for delivery on request.
This method offered several advantages, including reducing the need for on-site storage and minimising the risk of damage to materials. This helped streamline the installation process improving overall efficiency on what was a very busy site.
Kernow’s KFX Concrete Anchors were supplied and used throughout the M&E phase. Their quality, backed by ETA approvals and extensive technical support, made them a trusted choice for the many safety-critical installations across the project.
Overcoming Delivery Challenges
Kernow vehicles deliver daily to logistically challenging London sites, so adhering to the strict requirements of Angel Square was no issue. From managing the booking-in process to coordinating deliveries within precise time slots, Kernow ensured materials arrived exactly when needed. Clear communication between our internal teams and the on-site logistics crew was key to maintaining a seamless and efficient delivery process throughout the project.
Conclusion
Thanks to close collaboration between all parties, deliveries arrived on site exactly when required, without delays or disruption. This helped the contractor maintain momentum and keep the project on track.
